Land Mobile Radio (LMR) is a specific type of radio that is primarily made for line of sight two-way communications. Think of walkie talkies and you'll be on the right track. LMRs are similar to FRS/GMRS radios that you can buy off the shelf at Walmart. However, LMRs have a larger field of range and additional capabilities than your standard walkie talkie.
